School Bus

The German School Nairobi offers the service of bus transport for children attending school and kindergarten (not toddlers group) to and from school. Please note that children under three years (toddlers group) are not allowed to be on a bus without an adult accompanying them.

The children are picked up and dropped off right to their gates / compounds. However, the parents are responsible for the child until s/he is on the bus, even while the bus is waiting for the child to get on.

Registration for the school bus transport

You can register your child(ren) for the school bus transport through our online registration for school bus transport/extra-curricular activities/lunch every new half term . The weblink for the online registration will be send out to all parents (kindergarten, primary- and secondary school) via email during the first week of every new term.

You may choose one way, or return transport. For these two options, you will be invoiced for a bus fee.

Do you have an question during the current term about registration, de-registration or change of adress for the school bus transport, kindly contact our Head of Administration via email.

Fees for the school bus transport

The buses go to all suburbs around the school. The routes are split into zones, which can be accessed here.

Kindly find the fees for the school bus transport for the current term here under the section "Overview complete fee structure of the GSN".

Organisation and contact

Priority (in terms of seats available) is given to children who use the regular bus service. We cannot guarantee that those who buy single journey tickets will have a space on the bus. In case there is no seat available, the parents will be informed accordingly.

Pick-up times in the mornings are dependent on the number of children, as well the routes. The times for individual children will be communicated with the parents. It is obligatory to stick to these times, and the drivers have been instructed not to wait for children who are late. This, of course, is to ensure that those who are travelling by bus arrive punctually for the start of lessons.

Departure times from school are as follows:

Mon - Thu                        1.05 p.m., 3.30 p.m., 5.00 p.m.

Fri                                    1.05 p.m.

If your child has been registered for regular service, and cannot attend school for whatever reason, we request you to call the Transport Manager as early as possible.
