Abitur! High School Graduation 2018

Date 13/06/2018

School officially ended for our 11 high school graduates of the year 2018 on Friday the 25th of May with a festive ceremony and handing over of certificates.

To the sounds of “Ah Nice's” German "Abitur Song" the proud graduates marched into the wonderfully decorated hall shortly after 4 p.m. to great applause.

Ms. Seite, in her role as Principal addressed the graduates first, emphasizing the value of having dreams as motivation during school time and for the lives that the students have ahead of them. In her speech, Ms. Frasch, the German Ambassador to Kenya underlined the possibilities and opportunities that come after doing a vocational training or a university degree. She expressly invited the Kenyan scholarship students to study in Germany and expressed the hope that they would return to their home country in a few years' time to further help its development.

Two further important people addressed the students - Ms. Macconi-Heckner, the parent's representative of the class, and Mr. Kohl, the class teacher, who has seen his class through thick and thin over the last two years.

Rahim from Class 10, Sandra and Naomi from Class 8 and Latasha, Angela, Lisa and Wema from Class 11 provided the various musical interludes in the programme.

The long-awaited certificates were finally presented to: Lorenzo Heckner, Chelsea Njeri Irungu, Celine Njeri Mwauru, Rachel Amondi Odongo, Dasha Petersen, Melissa Prieske, Toren Renckstorf-Hayden, Marie Teufel, Sarah Elisabeth Tscherner, Leon Vihuto, and Hanna Villuela-Busse.

After a reception in front of the hall, mainly prepared by students of class 10, the "Abi-Ball" followed after a quick “redesigning” of the festival hall. Students, parents, friends, relatives and teachers alike celebrated the successful completion of our high school graduates' school years in 2018.
