13.04.21: Letter from the Principal

Nairobi, den 13.4.21
Dear German School Community,

The news has spread: Kindergarten and school will not open on 19.4.21.
The Kenyan government has announced that the opening date will be 10.5.21, the day on which the
Kenyan schools end their summer vacations.
Like in October, the classes taking the exams, i.e. the classes 10 to 12, are allowed to prepare for the exams in the school until school reopens. These students: and their families will continue to report cases of infection and quarantine to: responseteam@germanschool.co.ke.
I-Pads for those who do not have the device for distance learning can be requested from the IT Department at: william.Gachanja@germanschool.co.ke and can be picked up this week.

We all learned from the previous lockdown, and the authorities. The ministry has announced inspections and consequences if schools do not comply with the ministry’s instructions.
In the hope that the number of infections will decrease, many employees in the schools will be vaccinated and the opening will take place on 10.5., we have decided that neither preschoolers nor first graders will be allowed to come to school. Details about the procedure in individual classes, if changes occur, will be provided by the class teachers by Friday.

We all are sorry for this turn of events and know what it means for learners, teachers and the parents to be in distance learning again. We hope that everyone will be able to regain strength during the vacations, remain optimistic, stand together, support each other, show understanding, and stay healthy.

Kind regards and happy holidays to all of you.
