Dear School Community, simultaneously with the celebrations of its 50th anniversary, the German School Nairobi took part in a call for tenders by the German Foreign Office and the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen) and was awarded the contract to work on its school history under the title “Remembering for the Present – How we became what we are”. In order to reach as wide a circle of interested people as possible and to make the results usable in the future, the students decided to create a website. Today, this site is available at geschichte.germanschool.co.ke. This week, we celebrated the successful participation in this project in a small circle and sent the students of grades 7 – 10 on a historical journey. In a QR code rally, they were introduced to the history of the German School Nairobi.
Cramming history in the last week of school? What sounds like a rather dry undertaking was enthusiastically received by the participants. No wonder, because for the winners of the subsequent class quiz, it was pizza and bowling instead of lessons.
And the winner is… After research, teamwork and a hot quiz, we finally had winners. Class 10 took 2nd Runners u and the Overall winners were Class 8. Great job done to all the students who participated, the adrenaline and excitement was evident when counting through the points. Thank you to all parents and teachers who came to the event, you made this possible. Thank you to the Organizing committee for their hard work as well as each of the students involved from the Genesis of the project.
For those who unfortunately could not be there, you can watch at least part of the event below.
