Tzatziki Recipe

Ingredients for 4 Portions:

  • 1/2 organic cucumber
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 500 g Greek yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper


  1. Wash and clean the cucumber, grate coarsely and drain in a sieve. Peel the garlic cloves, chop finely or press through a garlic press.
  2. First mix the yoghurt and olive oil in a bowl, then stir in the cucumber and garlic. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Tzatziki recipes in delicious variations

We recommend Greek yoghurt for the preparation of tzatziki. At 10 %, the fat content of Greek yoghurt is significantly higher than that of whole milk yoghurt, which makes the consistency of the tzatziki particularly creamy. If you don’t have this, you can replace it with quark with 40 % fat and whole milk yoghurt in equal parts.

Vegan, refined with various kitchen herbs such as dill and mint, or even prepared with chickpeas and sesame seeds: You can adapt the basic tzatziki recipe to suit your needs. However, you should not do without the garlic, which gives the dip its distinctive flavour.
