School Development

At the German School Nairobi, development is an ongoing process. We regularly review our teaching and school culture to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Internal feedback, external evaluations, and surveys within our school community guide this work.

Every three years, our school undergoes an interim and full inspection by the Central Office for International School Matters (ZfA) and the Federal States Inspection. The DSN has twice been awarded the seal “Excellent German International School.”

School Development Primary School

The educational work at our Primary School is continuously evolving. An important focus is the use of competency frameworks. They provide transparency around learning goals and progress and form an important basis for individual support and targeted feedback.

The development of our educational approach is a collaborative effort. Different perspectives, regular exchange and shared reflection help us continuously develop our educational concepts in a practical and sustainable way.

School Development Secondary School

The Secondary School Development Group continuously focuses on topics that are key to the educational development of our school. A core team regularly works together with colleagues who contribute their expertise on specific areas.

At the heart of our work are our shared vision and values, as well as the question of how we can continue to improve learning for all students. Our key areas of focus include: self organised learning and competency frameworks, digitalisation, career guidance, prevention, strengthening German language skills, and professional development for our teachers..

We also take a long term view of our school’s development. Changing learning needs, growing student numbers and the design of modern learning spaces are considered collaboratively across Kindergarten, Primary School, Secondary School, Administration and our parent community.
