Dear readers,
In our current module on the subject “People and Society”, we have been looking at textile raw materials. Not only did we learn about the different types of natural and man-made fibres, but we also took a closer look at their origin, processing, and impact on the environment and society.
We now also know what the many symbols on the small label on our clothes mean and the best way to remove stains.
At the end of the module, we also looked at the terms “fast fashion” and “slow fashion” and realized that our purchasing behavior can make a difference. At “Think Twice” in Ruaka, we bought items of clothing and dyed them. Some of us are even wearing them now!
