Dear School Community,
Every six years or so, the Federal-Länder Inspectorate visits all German schools abroad to evaluate their quality. Last week was the time for our school. Three inspectors from Germany came to assess our work.
Beforehand, a lot of documents had already been reviewed and first-hand information had been obtained via an online survey of students, parents, and teachers. Further interviews were conducted during the week of the visit. However, the main focus of the school inspection is the classroom visit. Over 50 lesson sequences were observed and over 90% of teachers were seen in action. The kindergarten was also visited. Although it is not part of the inspection assessment, the inspectors found many appreciative words about the work done by our kindergarten team.
Friday, April 26, was the “day of reckoning”. In several rounds, the management, the teaching staff, and ultimately the school public were informed about the results of this comprehensive external evaluation. Perhaps the most important thing for us:
The German School Nairobi may continue to carry the award “Excellent German School Abroad” in the coming years.
We can also be very satisfied with the excellent result. We feel that our work has been confirmed, that our special features as a German School Nairobi have been recognized, and that we have received valuable impulses for our further development. Details of the results are beyond the scope of this newsletter. We will provide more detailed information in a letter to parents in the coming weeks.
