Candle Light – Workshop

On 16.03.2024, the 3rd workshop took place as part of this year’s Candle Light project with the Starkid School. This time the workshop had a biological theme. Twelve students from the new 12th grade (form 4) and three students from the 11th grade (form 3) as well as the chemistry teacher, Mr. Kariuki, were, as usual, picked up by a school bus at their school at 7.30 am. Due to the various preparations at our school, we did not start with breakfast as usual but instead had a theoretical input on photosynthesis, the function of stomata, and the construction of seeds.

A little later, however, we had a hearty breakfast, which gave us a fresh start to the workshop. The students happily experimented, microscoped, and prepared for the practical part. They were actively and expertly supported by Shanize (Year 11) and William (Year 12).

The workshop ended with a joint lunch in the cafeteria. The Kenyan lunch was very popular with the students.

At 1.40 pm we went back to Starkid School. My thanks go to Shanize, William, Kennedy, and the cafeteria team for their great support.
