What happens when the ‘Instagram’ generation meets a gang of female pirates full of adventurous spirit?

The audience was able to experience the result of this encounter on 31.1.2024 during the performance of the theatre Atelier for classes 5+6. The play performed, “Die Piratinneninsel”, grew out of improvisation work in the Atelier lessons. During the process, the group’s wishes were divided: one group of pupils wanted to develop a play on the topic of “Instragram”, while another group of pupils wanted to develop a play about female pirates. And because the two topics go well together (not!), Mrs Kröger simply wrote a play over the holidays that combined both topics and took up the improvisation ideas from the rehearsals. In the end, the audience experienced a group of Instagram influencers who are very fixated on their mobile phones and followers and can no longer perceive the here and now. However, an accident washes them up on a desert island, completely without mobile phone reception. There they meet a group of female pirates and experience carefree days full of adventure and joie de vivre. This “real life experience” finally cures them of their social media addiction, they have unforgettable experiences and make real friends.

Firstly, because of the actresses’ lively and joyful performance. Secondly, because of the stage set, which was spread across the entire sports hall, firstly located within the audience, then incorporating wall bars, rings and thick mats like an adventure course.

And finally, the actresses threw marshmallows from the stage into the audience – the audience went wild. What a beautiful and worthy end to this half-year of theatre!
