VfB Stuttgart visits KESA and German School

Dear School Community,

have we ever had such a sporty first day of school after the Easter break? Coaches Manuel Bierig and Luca Finkbeiner from VfB Stuttgart (currently 3rd in the German Bundesliga) visited the origins of KESA in Kibera together with Musa Otieno (Kenya’s record international player) and Andrew Oloo (GIZ – Instructor Sports4development) in the morning. It was a very active visit. Together with KESA children and coaches, they played football on the pitch by the railroad tracks.

A little sweaty, they came to our school at lunchtime to offer a training camp in the afternoon. Together with almost forty KESA children from Kibera, our DSN footballers practiced dribbling, passing, and shooting. All participants received a VfB Stuttgart medal in recognition and as a souvenir. And many children also took the opportunity to get an autograph.

We hope that this one-off afternoon will not remain a one-off, but that it will be the kick-off for a long-term cooperation. Many thanks to Ms. Pfirrmann from the German Embassy for initiating this contact. Many thanks to Kibet and Coach Calvin from KESA for the organization. And a big thank you to Stuttgart!
